International law. In 2000
the United Nations adopted the Convention against
Transnational Organized Crime, also called the Palermo
Convention and two protocols thereto: Protocol to
Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons,
especially Women and Children;and Protocol against the
Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air. All of
these instruments contain elements of the current
international law on trafficking in human beings. |
